Note that two of the oranges look like they are the same color, but test them on paper and see one is darker than the other. I just label them "L" and "D." I think one of them is Leg Warmer Orange. I don't know what the other one is. It is still a mystery!
So what's the difference between that pack and this one? Well this one has two colors the first one doesn't (Almond & Surf), but is missing one of the oranges ("L" or "D"). I don't know which one is missing because I haven't bought this pack yet. There are no bonus repeat colors. The benefit of the first pack is the price. The benefit of this pack shown on the left is the extra colors (minus that one orange). You can buy the color Surf individually, by the way.
So where else can you find the color Almond? You can find it in the Summer Splash version of Sharpies. This can be found on amazon.com. The other 4 colors are just repeat colors that can be found in either 24 pack listed above. I haven't seen this color sold individually.
The 3 colors that I buy individually: Lilac, Surf & Aqua. I've found them at Michael's and at a place called Quality Art in Boise, ID. Remember, Surf was a color in the second pack listed above.
If you bought the Sharpies listed above, you'd have 28 colors.
Color 29 Valley Girl Violet can be found in this pack or individually at officedepot.com. Lilac (sold invidually) is also found in this pack. The rest of the colors are the same as the first pack (minus Pink) and the same as the second pack (minus Almond).
I don't know the difference in color beween Valley Girl Violet and purple so I don't know for sure if it is sold in stores with the other individually sold colors.
So far, there are 29 colors. Sharpie's website lists 30 Fine Point colors. It seems to me that Pink Ribbon is the same as Pink. I haven't compared them yet.
Let's recap. You can buy the original Sharpies and get 24 colors. Then buy individually: Lilac, Surf, Aqua and Valley Girl Purple. Now you have 29 colors.
If Pink Ribbon is different from Pink, you will have 30 colors.
It would be nice if Sharpie could just make one pack of all the colors.
FYI, except for Almond & Boysenberry (that I know of) I think all colors can be bought individually as well. I still have to research this. Oh, you can buy "Slate Grey" as "Grey" on amazon.com I just found out. Perhaps Boysenberry and Almond are sold under different names too? It is just cheaper buying them in a pack I think. But if you need to replace a color or two, then you can buy them individually instead to save money.
There are metallic fine point Sharpies as well: Gold, Silver & Bronze. I don't use these with the other fine point Sharpies. Instead I will use them for background color in patterns or even for outlining.
I have yet to try Neon Sharpies, Sharpie Highlighters, Brush Tip Sharpies or Paint Sharpies. Well, I did try a gold Paint Sharpie, but it was rather similar to the gold Fine Point Sharpie. I'd like to try some other colors to determine if I like this kind of Sharpie or not.
One of the orange markers is "Tangerine" whose cap color is nearly indistinguishable from "Leg Warmer Orange". Under bright light the tangerine cap looks a hair lighter. I have seen evidence of 72 colors of fine point sharpies, and never in one place. (This includes the metallics, the neons, the wood touch up pens, the limited edition sets including one set I mightn't've believe existed based on searching the web, except that I have seen several packs.

Others (1): There is a Mystery shade of blue that appeared in a 24 pack that is different from the other known blues.
Also can add Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald to the Metallics pack. Sharpie is missing an opportunity, I would buy a completest pack for sure. Or maybe they cultivate their true-detective-esque tangle of mysteries...
DeleteI have also found "Color Blast" (group of 5: Racey Red, Brilliant Blue, Supersonic Yellow, Jet Set Jade, and Power Pink), "Pink Ribbon" and a group called "Florals". I haven't found a list of names, so I'm not sure if they are being confused with the Pastels.

ReplyDeleteSo glad others are interested in identifying all the Sharpie colors. My husband and daughter think I'm crazy to spend my time trying to figure the names out;) Like Harold, I've held them under bright light to compare the Sharpie cap color. Then wondered if cap production may slightly vary, hope not.
ReplyDeleteThat's nothing. I've colored matched via phone app, only then to question how reliable is the app. Once finally trust is restored I ponder how much my computer laptop, cell phone screen difference are there and if these color are even legit. In a rage I ordered color muse last night. It's hopeless the lids look so much alike it's near impossible to distinguish one from a particular another . I'ma start a sharpie support group lol
DeleteI know this thread is old, but the colours in the Costco pack have been driving me nuts. I think the Costco 24+1 pack has the following: Berry, Black, Blue (2), Blue Ice, Boysenberry, Brown, Green, Leg Warmer Orange, Lime Green, Magenta, Marigold, Mint, Navy, Olive, Orange, Peach, Pink, either Pink Lemonade or Pink Ribbon (I can't tell which), Purple, Red, Slate Grey, Tangerine, Turquoise, and Yellow.
ReplyDeleteThe Amazon one, on the other hand, has: Almond, Aqua, Berry, Black, Blue, Blueberry, Brown, Green, Lilac, Lime Green, Magenta, Mint, Navy, Orange, Peach, Pink, Pink Lemonade, Purple, Red, Sky Blue, Slate Grey, Tangerine, Turquoise, and Yellow.
So as far as I can tell, the two packs share 18 colours (maybe 19 if the Costco one has Pink Lemonade and not Pink Ribbon), with 5 or 6 unique ones.
I do wish they'd print the colour name on the markers, but I guess that would increase production costs.
I have a mystery yellow shade, it's not orange enough to be Tangerine but too warm to be Bana Clip based on looking at online swatches The cap doesn't match Marigold either. Quite confusing
ReplyDeleteI also have a mysterious dirty orange one that came in a 30 pack.
The dirty orange might be Orion Orange
DeleteI think it's dandelion
DeleteTheyre all over the place man totally disorganized i heve 2 Limes ones cap is almost neon its insanity . i ordered a 12 pack of Brown and they came labeled as neon pink. If sharpie only knew the chaos theyve caused on apps like ebay with sellers having to make up their own names and buyers returning pens bcuz they were told it was a diff color then what it is etc..its a nightmare.Bic labels their markers why cant Sharpie especially when you have some that are so similar like rockrt fuel red and burgundy ..GOOD LUCK..BURN IN HELL SHARPIE
